Smart Clap
Privacy Policy
Summary
Smart Clap helps you find your phone by clapping or whistling and protects it from being picked up by strangers. All sound and motion processing happens entirely on your device — no audio is ever recorded, stored, or transmitted. The app shows ads and offers a one-time “Remove Ads” purchase; the Advertising and In-app purchases sections below describe exactly what that involves.
What the app does with your data
Microphone
The app listens to the microphone only while you have detection switched on. Audio is analyzed in real time by an on-device neural network (YAMNet) to recognize a clap, finger snap, or whistle. Audio is processed in one-second chunks in memory and immediately discarded. Nothing is recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. When you switch detection off, the microphone is released.
Motion sensor (accelerometer)
In anti-theft mode the app reads the accelerometer to detect that the phone was moved. This data is processed on the device in real time and never stored or transmitted.
Advertising
The app shows ads served by Google AdMob. To do this, AdMob's SDK shares your advertising ID, approximate location (derived from IP address), and how you interact with the ads with Google, for the purpose of showing and measuring ads. This is the only data sharing the app does, and it only happens through Google's AdMob SDK — the app itself has no analytics or tracking of its own. All of this traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). You can reset or limit your advertising ID at any time in your device settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads), and you can remove ads entirely with the in-app purchase described below.
In-app purchases
The optional “Remove Ads” purchase is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. The app never sees or stores your payment details — that is between you and Google.
Your own sound from device storage
You can pick your own audio file as the reply sound. The file is chosen through the system file picker — the app does not browse your storage and has no access to any other file. The file you pick is copied into the app's own private folder so the sound keeps working after a reboot, and it is never transmitted anywhere.
Feedback
If you choose to send us feedback from the form inside the app, your email app opens with a prepared message — you send it yourself. We receive what you wrote and the address you sent it from, and we use that address only to reply to you.
No accounts, no other data collection
- No account or registration is required or offered.
- Your settings (chosen sound, volume, sensitivity, schedule) are stored only locally on your device and are removed when you uninstall the app.
- Since there are no accounts and nothing is stored on our side, there is no server-side data to request the deletion of. Your Advertising ID is under your control via the device setting mentioned above.
