Privacy Policy
Summary
Smart Clap helps you find your phone by clapping or whistling and protects it from being picked up by strangers. All sound and motion processing happens entirely on your device — no audio is ever recorded, stored, or transmitted. The app shows ads, collects anonymous usage statistics, and offers a one-time “Remove Ads” purchase; the Advertising, Analytics and In-app purchases sections below describe exactly what that involves.
What the app does with your data
Microphone
The app listens to the microphone only while you have detection switched on. Audio is analyzed in real time by an on-device neural network (YAMNet) to recognize a clap, finger snap, or whistle. Audio is processed in one-second chunks in memory and immediately discarded. Nothing is recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. When you switch detection off, the microphone is released.
Motion sensor (accelerometer)
In anti-theft mode the app reads the accelerometer to detect that the phone was moved. This data is processed on the device in real time and never stored or transmitted.
Advertising
The app shows ads served by Google AdMob. To do this, AdMob's SDK shares your advertising ID, approximate location (derived from IP address), and how you interact with the ads with Google, for the purpose of showing and measuring ads. All of this traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). You can reset or limit your advertising ID at any time in your device settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads), and you can remove ads entirely with the in-app purchase described below.
Analytics
The app uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used overall — how often it is opened, which features are used, and whether the “Remove Ads” purchase was completed. These are aggregated statistics about usage, not about you personally: Firebase receives an app instance identifier, your advertising ID, device model and operating system version, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. It never receives audio, your files, or the contents of anything you write. We use this only to see which parts of the app are worth improving.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends us the technical details of the failure: where in the code it happened, the device model and operating system version, how much memory and storage were free, and an installation identifier that lets us tell a new crash from a repeat of the same one. It carries no audio, no files and nothing you typed. We use it only to fix the crash.
In-app purchases
The optional “Remove Ads” purchase is handled entirely by Google Play Billing. The app never sees or stores your payment details — that is between you and Google. When a purchase completes, the app reports the fact of the sale, its amount and currency, and the Google Play transaction number to Firebase Analytics, so that we can count sales. No payment details are included, because the app never has them.
Your own sound from device storage
You can pick your own audio file as the reply sound. The file is chosen through the system file picker — the app does not browse your storage and has no access to any other file. The file you pick is copied into the app's own private folder so the sound keeps working after a reboot, and it is never transmitted anywhere.
Feedback
If you choose to answer the short feedback form inside the app, your answer is saved to our Firebase database so that we can see what to improve. We store the reason you picked or the text you typed, the app version, and your interface language — no account, no email address, nothing that points back to you. If the app cannot reach the database, it falls back to opening your email app with a prepared message, which you send yourself; in that case we also see the address you sent it from, and use it only to reply.
No accounts
- No account or registration is required or offered.
- Your settings (chosen sound, volume, sensitivity, schedule) are stored only locally on your device and are removed when you uninstall the app.
- We run no servers of our own. Feedback you choose to send is kept in a Firebase database; the advertising and analytics data described above is held by Google. Because there are no accounts, none of it identifies you by name.
- You can reset the identifiers involved at any time by resetting your Advertising ID in your device settings, and uninstalling the app stops all further collection.

The app does not request access to your contacts, location, photos, calls, or device storage.
Children
The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13.
